Safety Shower and Eyewash
Because science class also contains a lab, there are some safety features in case of emergency. Directly above you is shower. This shower is not like your shower at home. This is designed in the event of a chemical spill. The water comes out very quickly, don’t pull the triangle unless there is a true emergency. Don’t dare your friend to pull it either.
Below the shower looks like four water fountains. This is an eyewash station to clean any chemicals that may get in your eye. Pushing the flat lever will force water out of all four nozzles. The water will eventually end up on the ground and your feet will be wet. Don’t push this lever unless there is an emergency.
These safety features are more commonly used in chemistry classrooms. While the labs we will do this year are safe, especially if you follow directions, it is important that we have these features in the event that they are needed.
