IN CLASS: Vocabulary, Seasons Observations
Sample Observations:
The northern hemisphere is titled towards the sun during the summer solstice.
The northern 23.5 degrees of the Earth does not get any sun during the winter solstice.
The Earth is the same distance from the sun during the spring and fall.
Inference:
The amount of sun a location gets on any day affects the temperature, so the northern hemisphere in the summer is warmer.
North of the Arctic Circle during the winter solstice is dark, and therefore the coldest part of the year.
When the Earth is the same distance during the equonix, the temperatures are pretty similar.
Suprising:
The Earth is closest to the sun in December, even though it is very cold. I would think that if the Earth is close to the sun, the temperature would be the warmest.
